What Parents are Saying
At Little Farm Nature School, we offer Montessori-inspired Toddler & Parent Classes where toddlers (ages 0 months – 3 years) and their caregivers can learn, play, and discover side by side on the farm.
Our hands-on, farm-based learning environment encourages exploration, independence, and a deep connection to nature—all while laying the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.
Explore, Learn, and Grow—Together on the Farm
What to Expect
Rooted in Montessori principles and nature-based education, each session is thoughtfully designed to support early childhood development through:
Hands-on Exploration – Sensory-rich activities with natural materials, messy art, mud kitchens, and farm experiences.
Animal Encounters – Gentle interactions with farm animals, fostering empathy and confidence. Black Ridge Farms is home to sheep, cows, ducks, chickens, and rabbits. In the spring we expect all the babies! You’ll also meet our large fluffy Great Pyrenees and a few barn kitties.
Outdoor Discovery – Scenic walks around the farm, garden explorations, and seasonal activities.
Practical Life Skills – Opportunities for independence, from feeding animals to simple farm chores.
Montessori-Inspired Learning – Invitations to explore fine motor, language, and early math concepts through purposeful work on the farm.
Community & Connection – A supportive space for parents and children to learn together
We inspire a lifelong love of learning and nature for our community of learners ages 0-12. Through our farm-based, hands-on, Montessori-inspired experiences, we cultivate curiosity, confidence, and connection to the land, animals and sustainable living.

Meet Your Teacher
Calli Stipe, Little Farm Nature School Director
I’m a Palouse native, farmer’s wife, flower garden lover, and busy mom to three boys! My passion for working with children began early in my life and led me to study Early Childhood Development at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho. There I discovered Montessori education and went on to receive my Montessori Certification in Boise.
I opened my own Montessori Preschool and that also offered Montessori parent & child classes to support parents wanting to implement the Montessori method at home for several years.
Throughout my teaching experience, I always felt like something was missing. It wasn’t until I learned about the benefits of outdoor education and observed it firsthand with my own children that I discovered the missing piece—immersion in nature and the farm.
It brings my heart so much joy to see children learning how they were meant to learn - in the great outdoors. I’m thrilled to offer this program and can’t wait to meet you!
