What is Montessori?
Montessori is an educational method founded by Dr. Maria Montessori in early 1900’s. In short, Maria Montessori developed her educational method by observing children and found what children are naturally interested in. In the Montessori approach, it views children as capable human beings worthy of respect. The method focuses on following the needs and interests of each individual child through a prepare environment of hands-on learning experiences.
In our modern day, research is continuing to back up everything Montessori discovered about children and how they learn. It is truly incredible!
Her approach has been followed in many schools with children of all different ages around the world! Her method isn’t just for the classroom.
She called her method an education for life - it is a method that can be applied in our homes, parenting styles, and in our daily lives. In recent years the idea of implementing Montessori in the home has grown in popularity. This is for rightful reasons as her method can bring so much calm and joy into the home and to our children.
