How to encourage independent play?

1.) Fill up your child's connection cup.

Do something together and be 100% present with your child.

2.) Minimize toys

Children have a hard time choosing something to play with if there are too many choices. The less the toys, the more they play!

3.) Create order

Children love order! Create an orderly play area using baskets/containers that will invite them to play.

4.) Provide real life activities

Children prefer real life activities over toys. Provide real life activities and tools that they can do independently.

5.) Provide open-ended & passive toys

Try to only purchase toys that invite the child to investigate and explore.

6.) RELAX

There is more to childhood then independent play! Soak up these early years, they go by too fast. Before we know it they will grow up and we will miss these years when they needed us.
